The Tampa Bay Rays' Opening Day roster won't include outfielder Josh Lowe, who has an oblique injury, according to Kristie Ackert of the Tampa Bay Times.

A timeline for his return is unknown at this point.

Lowe was supposed to appear for the Rays in Sunday's spring training contest against the Pittsburgh Pirates but was scratched. The Virginia native has only appeared in three spring games because of left hip inflammation.

The 26-year-old Lowe was expected to be the Rays' starting right fielder this season after a breakout 2023 campaign where he slashed .292/.335/.500 with 20 home runs, 33 doubles, 83 RBIs, and 32 steals.

Tampa Bay could give more outfield reps to free-agent acquisition Amed Rosario or veteran Harold Ramírez while Lowe recovers from his injury.
