Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts is still adjusting to his new position as the club's everyday shortstop.

The Dodgers moved Betts from second base to shortstop amid Gavin Lux's struggles at the position this spring. Lux will be the club's starting second baseman.

"When I was named the shortstop, that was super special to me," Betts said Saturday on Bleacher Report's "On Base with Mookie Betts." "I haven't played shortstop, and knowing that I was going to play shortstop every day, since I was 18. I'm 31. That's a long time to not play everyday shortstop.

Betts has only made 16 appearances at shortstop over 1,265 career games. All 16 of those appearances came with the Dodgers last season.

"That was probably one of the coolest moments of my life, knowing that I get to do it again," Betts said of finding out about the switch to shortstop.

Betts played six innings at shortstop during Saturday's Cactus League game against the Texas Rangers. The 31-year-old was charged with an interference error in the fifth inning when Derek Hill singled and was awarded second base.
