Spring training is in full force with only a few weeks remaining until the first pitch of MLB's regular season.
It's the time of year when veterans get their reps and rookies try to make a name for themselves in hopes of making the opening-day roster or climbing up the minor-league depth chart.
Let's look at which rookies oddsmakers at theScore Bet expect to have the largest impacts this season based on their Rookie of the Year odds.
The Rangers' Evan Carter and Orioles' Jackson Holliday are the co-favorites at +300, which equates to an implied win probability of 25%.
Carter still qualifies as a rookie despite playing 23 games for the Rangers last season and helping them win the World Series. He hit .306 in 75 regular-season plate appearances and .300 in the postseason. Carter is projected to slot into the middle of a loaded Rangers lineup and should be in the thick of the AL Rookie of the Year conversation all season long.
Holliday's road to winning the award appears a little tougher than Carter's since he's not expected to crack the Orioles' opening-day roster. However, baseball's top prospect should see plenty of playing time in 2024 once his inevitable call-up occurs. If he gets the nod early enough, there's a good chance he can compete with Carter's production.
Wyatt Langford - another prospect for the reigning World Series champs - is turning heads in spring training and should start for the Rangers when the season begins. Whether or not he's a full-time defensive player or their regular DH remains to be seen.
The Dodgers made a massive splash when they landed Shohei Ohtani, but they also added Yoshinobu Yamamoto to the top of their rotation, who's the favorite to win the NL Rookie of the Year. The betting market expects a big year out of Yamamoto, as he's +1200 - the sixth shortest odds - to win the NL Cy Young.
Jung Hoo Lee and Shota Imanaga are two other international signings from this past offseason that are among the favorites to earn top rookie honors.
Paul Skenes (+5000) and Dylan Crews (+2500), the first and second overall picks from the 2023 draft, are in the mix, but how much MLB action they'll see this season remains unclear.
