The Kansas City Royals signed left-hander Will Smith to a one-year contract, the team announced Monday.

Smith's pact is worth $5 million, sources told Jeff Passan of ESPN.

The deal also includes performance bonuses, according to Anne Rogers of MLB.com.

The 34-year-old has won a World Series in three consecutive seasons (2021 Atlanta Braves, 2022 Houston Astros, and 2023 Texas Rangers).

Smith authored a 4.40 ERA with 1.06 WHIP and 22 saves over 60 appearances for the Rangers last season. He's recorded 113 saves with a 10.6 K/9 over his 11-year run in the majors.

The veteran closer started his career with the Royals in 2012.
