Minnesota Twins slugger Miguel Sano will undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, manager Rocco Baldelli said Tuesday, according to Britt Ghiroli of The Athletic.

Sano, 28, suffered the injury during a rundown in late April. There's no timetable for his return.

Prior to being sidelined, the corner infielder was struggling at the plate, hitting .093/.231/.148 with one homer and one steal through 17 games.

The first-place Twins have been relying on Luis Arraez at first base while playing Trevor Larnach and Byron Buxton at designated hitter.

Arraez, a natural second baseman, has been adjusting to his new position but is acquitting himself well at the plate. He has a .296/.359/.366 slash line over 22 contests.

The 25-year-old Larnach is also adjusting well during his sophomore season, posting a .770 OPS in 18 games so far.
