The San Francisco Giants and left-hander Matt Boyd agreed to a one-year, $5.2-million contract, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
The reported pact includes up to $2.3 million in performance bonuses.
The 31-year-old is expected to be ready by June after undergoing surgery to repair the flexor tendon in his left arm in September, notes Heyman.
Boyd spent the last seven years of his career with the Detroit Tigers, accruing a 4.87 ERA with 759 strikeouts over 784 1/3 innings (145 starts). His best season came in 2019 when he fanned a career-high 238 batters with 1.23 WHIP over 185 1/3 innings.
The Giants also added Carlos Rodon and Alex Cobb this offseason to a starting rotation that includes Logan Webb, Anthony DeSclafani, and Alex Wood.
