Report: Phillies eyeing Cubs' Kimbrel, Chafin, Tepera
The Philadelphia Phillies are interested in trading for Chicago Cubs All-Star closer Craig Kimbrel, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
Chicago relievers Andrew Chafin and Ryan Tepera are also reportedly on the Phillies' radar
Philadelphia enters Saturday's action four games behind the New York Mets for first in the NL East, but the club hasn't received much from its bullpen this season. The group has amassed a 4.64 ERA while accruing minus-0.1 fWAR, the third-worst mark in baseball.
The Cubs' trio would help turn things around. Kimbrel owns a sparkling 0.51 ERA, 22 saves, and 61 strikeouts in 37 appearances; Chafin has compiled a 1.37 ERA and 0.73 WHIP; and Tepera has a 3.02 ERA with 10.4 strikeouts per nine innings this season.
Chicago is in fourth place in the NL Central after losing 23 of its last 33 games.
