Monaco GP canceled, Dutch and Spanish races postponed
Formula 1 announced the postponements of the Dutch, Spanish, and Monaco Grands Prix due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Shortly after F1's original statement, the Automobile Club de Monaco announced that the Monaco Grand Prix is canceled. This will be the first year since 1954 that the race won't take place.
That follows last week's cancellation of the Australian Grand Prix and the postponements of the Chinese, Bahrain, and Vietnam GPs.
The Dutch GP was due to make its first appearance on the F1 calendar since 1985 on May 1-3. The Spanish GP was scheduled the following week, and the race in Monaco was set to run May 21-24.
"Due to the ongoing and fluid nature of the COVID-19 situation globally, Formula 1, the FIA, and the three promoters have taken these decisions in order to ensure the health and safety of the traveling staff, championship participants, and fans, which remains our primary concern," F1's statement read.
The current plan is to re-schedule the races for a later date in 2020.
