Report: Taylor, Rousey negotiating 2026 showdown
Katie Taylor could be on the verge of one of the biggest paydays of her career.
The women's junior welterweight champion is currently negotiating a blockbuster bout with former UFC champion Ronda Rousey that would take place in Las Vegas in the summer of 2026, reports Lance Pugmire of Boxing Scene.
The potential high-profile matchup has reportedly drawn interest from Netflix, which previously broadcast Taylor's third championship fight against Amanda Serrano to nearly six million viewers.
Taylor addressed the news Tuesday, saying she's "absolutely" open to fighting Rousey.
"It's just a very interesting fight," Taylor told Pugmire. "Seeing all the headlines this morning, I was thinking, 'OK, I'm up and ready for this fight.'"
She added: "It's a fight that will interest and capture the imagination of the fans, and that's what boxing needs. I'd be very, very happy to fight Ronda."
Taylor is considered one of the best women's boxers of all time. The Irishwoman, who last fought in July and has been noncommittal about her future, holds three of the four titles in her division and has won 25 of her 26 professional fights.
Once among the most popular UFC fighters, Rousey retired from MMA in 2016 following back-to-back losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes.
Rousey began a professional wrestling career in 2018. She wrestled for WWE until 2023 and announced in October that she's retired from professional wrestling.
