Crawford beats Madrimov to become 4-division champion
Terence Crawford joined some of the great names in boxing history as a four-division champion with a unanimous victory over Israil Madrimov to claim the WBA junior middleweight title at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.
Judges scored the bout 116-112, 115-113, 115-113 in favor of Crawford.
Crawford adds the 154-pound belt to his world championships at lightweight, light welterweight, and his reigning status as undisputed welterweight champion. He's the 24th male boxer to earn titles at four weight classes.
Madrimov, who was making his first defense of the WBA junior middleweight belt, made life difficult for "Bud" by pushing him the distance. The decision snapped Crawford's 11-fight knockout streak; he hadn't gone 12 rounds since a unanimous win over Viktor Postol in 2016.
The victory ups Crawford's professional record to 41-0, with 31 of those wins coming via knockout.
Madrimov, meanwhile, suffered his first loss and is now 10-1-1 as a pro. His reign as the WBA junior middleweight champion lasted just four months.
