What to watch in prime time Saturday

No one really understands how a perfect Finn Step can make or break an Olympic ice dance performance, but Teemu Selanne and the Finnish men's ice hockey team stepped all over the Americans to take the bronze medal early on Saturday with a 5-0 victory.

1. Sorry for bringing that up, American hockey fans.

2. Sorry for trying to make a joke about the Finn Step. Horrible.

That said, it's your last Winter Olympic prime time until 2018, and televisions might not even be something we use at that point in the future, so enjoy those flat-screen beasts to watch athletic prowess while you still can.

NBC - Primetime starting at 8:00 PM (EST)

Alpine Skiing (Men's Slalom)

Ted Ligety had a rough day on the course, as did most of the field. The hill at Rosa Khutor was rough. Like, really, really rough. Austria's Mario Matt became the oldest man to win the slalom, and his countryman Marcel Hirscher captured his first Olympic medal after two seasons of dominance on the World Cup circuit.

Bobsled (Four-Man)

The Canada 3 team had a scary crash in their second run of the competition, but all four men walked away from the sled unharmed.

Pilot Steven Holcomb and the men of United States 1 are just 0.01 of a second out of the bronze medal spot.

Speed Skating (Team Pursuit)

The Dutch won team pursuit gold in men's and women's events -- the first country to sweep the pursuit golds ever. But are you surprised? You shouldn't be. Those guys and gals are kind of the best at this stuff.

Figure Skating (Gala)

This is your Saturday night must-see event. There are no medals on the line, just a showcase of the finest athletes in Olympic figure skating wearing some of the best (and most ridiculous costumes) you're likely to ever see.

Canadian Patrick Chan, who walked away a silver medalist, thanked the crowd and Olympic officials -- in both English and French -- on behalf of all of the athletes, finishing with: "Hot, cool, yours, and now ours."

Plus, some athletes are marking their 'end of an era' chapter with the gala performance in Sochi, including world champion Mao Asada, the queen of skating Yuna Kim, and ice dancers Tessa Virtue, Scott Moir, Charlie White and Meryl Davis.

Canada

CBC

Ron MacLean hosts Olympic Primetime starting at 7:00 PM (EST). Shout outs to MacLean for his stress-free few weeks without Don Cherry's suits. Doing good work, Ronny.

Olympic Extra showcases the figure skating exhibition (tonight's must-see), now that all the curling gold has been taken by the Canadian men and women. In some ways, the figure skating gala is a gold medal for the fans. Watch the beauty, grace, and suspenders beginning at 7:00 PM (EST).

Americans are feeling complete misery after Teemu Selanne (and sort of the Finnish team, but mainly Teemu Selanne) took the prize from the U.S.A. men in Saturday's bronze medal game. Catch up on the red, white and blue tears as Teemu and his merry band of Selannes are rebroadcast on Olympic Extra Hockey Edition at 7:30 PM (EST).
