NHL Game Summary - Detroit at Colorado

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Pavel Datsyuk and Johan Franzen each scored twice as Detroit handed Colorado its first loss of the season with a 4-2 victory on Thursday at Pepsi Center.

Daniel Alfredsson had three assists, while Jonas Gustavsson made 38 saves for the Red Wings, who have won four straight.

Colorado had won its first six games of the season under new head coach Patrick Roy and were attempting to match the best start in franchise history, but were unable to break the 7-0-0 mark set by the 1985-86 Quebec Nordiques under Michel Bergeron.

Roy remained tied with his old Canadiens head coach Mario Tremblay for the most consecutive wins to begin a coaching career at six.

Erik Johnson and Gabriel Landeskog each had a goal for the Avalanche, who got 24 saves from Semyon Varlamov in the loss.
