Last year's result

At The Northern Trust, last season's first round of the playoffs, Tony Finau outlasted Cameron Smith in an extra hole. Finau shot a final-round 6-under 65 to finish the tournament at 20-under. Smith shot an 11-under 60 in the third round and held the co-lead with Jon Rahm heading into the final round.

In the playoff, the Australian hit an out-of-bounds tee shot and was unable to make par on the hole, giving Finau the win.

The victory was the second of Finau's career. The 32-year-old has since doubled his number of wins with back-to-back victories in late July this year.

As one of three playoff events on the PGA TOUR, the FedEx St. Jude Championship has one of the season's strongest fields, which includes all of the top 10 players in the world.

The top 125 players on the FedEx Cup standings qualified for the tournament following the conclusion of last week's Wyndham Championship. Joohyung Kim, who won the final event, officially became a full-time TOUR member to secure his place. Rickie Fowler grabbed the final spot, finishing the season at No. 125.

Tommy Fleetwood, Lanto Griffin, Daniel Berger, and Nate Lashley are the only qualified players who won't be in the field this week.
