The PGA TOUR will introduce eight no-cut events for the top 50 finishers on the previous season's FedEx Cup standings, multiple players told Golf Digest's Dan Rapaport.

The changes, which will be introduced in fall 2023, were announced during a 90-minute mandatory meeting Tuesday for TOUR players ahead of the Travelers Championship on Thursday.

Greg Norman's Saudi-backed LIV Golf series, which held its inaugural tournament two weeks ago, features eight no-cut, 54-hole events with $25-million purses.

The TOUR's limited-field events will reportedly feature purses of $20 million each. They'll be held during the fall portion of the TOUR calendar, which will change from the current wraparound format back to a single-year schedule.

Some of these events will happen midseason and some will be held in the fall, according to Rapaport.

TOUR players who don't qualify for the events will play in their own series of tournaments to earn their cards and improve their status for the following season.

Potential changes to the fall schedule, including the addition of limited-field and alternate events, were discussed at the PGA TOUR Player Advisory Council meeting in April. Talks about a new series of events in the fall were first reported by Golf Channel's Rex Hoggard in February.

A separate meeting for the PGA TOUR policy board is set for Tuesday afternoon.

PGA TOUR commissioner Jay Monahan is scheduled to speak to the press Wednesday.
