Following a 3-under 67 on Friday that has him inside the U.S. Open's cutline, Brooks Koepka shared what he believes is why some people may not support him.

"People hate confidence. That's why people aren't a big fan of me," the four-time major champion said following his second round, according to NBC Sports Edge Betting's Will Gray.

Koepka recorded a 3-over 73 and trailed the leader by seven shots after Thursday's opening round of the U.S. Open at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts.

The 32-year-old shot a 67 in Round 2 to return to even par for the tournament, making three birdies, two bogeys, and an eagle at the par-5 14th to get there.

Koepka won back-to-back U.S. Open titles in 2017 and 2018.

"I don't come here hoping for second place," Koepka said.

He's only competed at majors in his most recent TOUR starts. Koepka finished in a tie for 55th in his last event at the PGA Championship in May after missing the cut at the Masters in April.
