After Jason Kokrak claimed his third victory in the last 13 months last week in Houston, the PGA TOUR heads to St. Simons Island, Georgia, for the final full-field event of the calendar year.

The RSM Classic debuted in October 2010, shepherded into existence by Sea Island residents Zach Johnson and Davis Love. The tournament has become a popular TOUR stop, as many pros have residences on the property and use Sea Island as their main practice facility when they're not on the road.

The course

The RSM Classic features two courses: the Seaside and the Plantation. Players will rotate their Thursday and Friday rounds at each course, with those who make the cut playing both weekend rounds at the Seaside course.

Measuring a modest 7,060 yards on the scorecard, the Plantation plays as a par-72 course. The Seaside, meanwhile, plays as a par-70 course at 7,005 yards. Both feature large Bermuda-grass greens. With two extra par-fives and less exposure to the wind, the Plantation course is certainly the easier of the two, but both tend to highlight a similar skill set. Players who perform well at Sea Island tend to be fairway finders and elite wedge players who excel on fast and sloping Bermuda-grass greens. Both courses' greatest defense is the wind, so the weather will dictate the nature of this tournament. With calm conditions expected on three of the event's four days, fans should prepare for another low-scoring affair to conclude the PGA TOUR's fall swing.
