Patrick Cantlay defeated Collin Morikawa on the first playoff hole to win the Memorial Tournament on Sunday.

The duo, who shared the 54-hole lead following Jon Rahm's forced withdrawal while holding a six-shot advantage due to a positive COVID-19 test, entered the day with a three-shot edge but stumbled out of the gates with a pair of bogeys to let Scottie Scheffler into the mix.

Cantlay, Morikawa, and Scheffler all jockeyed for position atop the leaderboard up until the very end. Scheffler bogeyed his final hole to end his hopes of winning, while Cantlay buried a birdie putt on 17 to pull even with Morikawa.

Neither player hit the green in regulation on the first extra hole forcing both to scramble for par. Cantlay got his sweeping 11-footer to drop, but Morikawa couldn't answer from six feet to extend the playoff.

Cantlay's victory marks the fourth of his PGA TOUR career and second win at Muirfield Village Golf Club. He joins Tiger Woods as the only players to win Jack Nicklaus' tournament multiple times before turning 30 years of age, according to Twenty First Group's Justin Ray.

Here's how the top of the leaderboard finished from Muirfield Village Golf Club:
