Dustin Johnson has withdrawn from the CJ Cup on Tuesday after testing positive for COVID-19, the PGA Tour announced.

The world No. 1 initially tested negative Sunday when he arrived at Shadow Creek for the CJ Cup but started experiencing symptoms Monday and notified PGA Tour officials, according to Doug Ferguson of the Associated Press. He was administered another test Tuesday, which came back positive.

"Obviously, I am very disappointed," Johnson said in the Tour's statement. "I was really looking forward to competing this week, but will do everything I can to return as quickly as possible."

J.T. Poston will replace Johnson in the 78-man field competing at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas.

He becomes the second golfer in as many weeks to test positive for COVID-19. Tony Finau was also forced to withdraw during last week's Shriners Hospitals for Children Open after contracting the virus and will skip the CJ Cup.

Johnson, who is the reigning PGA Tour Player of the Year, last played at the U.S. Open in September, where he finished in a tie for sixth.
