Laird wins Shriners Open after 3-way playoff

Martin Laird edged out Austin Cook and Matthew Wolff in a three-way playoff to claim the 2020 Shriners Open.

It marks the fourth career PGA Tour victory for the 37-year-old Scotsman, and his second time winning this event. His first win on Tour came at the Shriners in 2009. It's also his first triumph since 2013.

Laird carded a 3-under 68 on Sunday - his worst round of the week - but he made a clutch birdie on the second playoff hole to take the tournament.

The veteran entered the week as the 358th-ranked golfer in the world, and he got into the tournament as a sponsor's exemption.

After tearing the meniscus in his left knee in June, Laird was making just his fourth start since the PGA Tour's restart, according to Golf Channel's Ryan Lavner.
