Tiger Woods will end 2019 ranked No. 6 in the Official World Golf Ranking thanks to his fourth-place result at the Hero World Challenge, his highest year-end position in six years.

His rank could have been higher if he hadn't stalled out in the latter half of his final round. Woods held the solo lead with 11 holes remaining but couldn't get past the 14-under number. He ended the event four shots back of the winner, Henrik Stenson.

"It was a good, solid week," Tiger said, according to Golf Digest's Daniel Rapaport. "... If I would have given myself a few more looks, this might have been a different story. But I just didn't."

The result was Woods' sixth top-10 finish in 14 events played during 2019. He jumped up the rankings after winning the Masters and remained inside the top 10 with his Zozo Championship title. Woods finished 2018 ranked No. 13 and was 656th at the end of 2017.

It's worth noting that Tiger's finished as the No. 1 ranked golfer 12 of the past 22 years.

With all of his individual events for 2019 in the books, Tiger can turn his full attention to his captaincy role for next week's Presidents Cup. The team event begins Thursday, Dec. 12 in Australia, or the evening of Dec. 11 for those in North America.
