Tiger puts bow on U.S. Open with strong finish
Tiger Woods saved his best round for last at the U.S. Open, but it was too little, too late for the reigning Masters champion.
The 43-year-old battled another cool day at Pebble Beach en route to a 2-under 69, his best U.S. Open round in the last 10 years.
Tiger entered the final round without a chance to win his 16th major, as he sat 11 shots off the lead to start his day. That fact appeared to be affecting his play early in the round, as he bogeyed four of his first six holes and looked disinterested.
However, Woods displayed impressive resiliency in what could be his last major round at the iconic Pebble Beach, birdieing six of his final 12 holes to climb back inside the tournaments top 20.
Tiger's schedule remains up in the air for the rest of the season. He said he's going to take some "family time," according to Golf Channel's Tiger Tracker, and seems to be in no rush to return before the Open Championship in July.
