Finau trails Blixt by 1 after Round 2 at Charles Schwab Challenge
Jonas Blixt leads Tony Finau and Kevin Na by one shot after Round 2 of the Charles Schwab Challenge.
Sweden's Blixt carded a bogey-free, 6-under 64 on Friday. While he's known as one of the game's best putters, Blixt torched Colonial Country Club with his irons, gaining over four strokes through approach shots to sit at 9-under par after 36 holes.
Finau followed his 64 from Thursday with a 68 in Round 2. He's listed as the favorite to win what would be his second career PGA Tour event, according to Bodog.
Na fired a day-low 62 to climb up the leaderboard. The 8-under performance was one shot off his record-tying round he carded last year en route to a T-4 result.
Rory Sabbatini holds down the fourth spot at 6-under.
Jordan Spieth headlines a group of five players tied at 5-under. Spieth rode a hot putter for the second straight day to an even-par round. He drained two birdie putts from over 46 feet but five second-round bogeys prevented him from picking up any ground on the leaders.
Difficult scoring conditions in the Fort Worth area sent a number of world-class players home early. Rickie Fowler (3-over), Xander Schauffele (3-over), Bryson DeChambeau (4-over), and Jon Rahm (6-over) all failed to make the 2-over cut.
To make matters worse for tournament organizers, Paul Casey withdrew prior to the second round due to illness.
