A spectator was injured at a Web.com Tour event in Portland, Oregon on Friday when a club head went flying into the gallery after coming loose.

The fan was attended to on site before being taken to a local hospital for six stitches.

The incident occurred when Kevin Stadler, son of former Masters champion Craig Stadler, slammed his club into the turf in frustration, causing the club head to break off.

"It was a very freakish accident," Orlando Pope, an official with the Web.com Tour, told ESPN's Bob Harig. "Kevin is devastated. He had trouble trying to finish the round. He was quite worried and felt so bad."

Stadler, who has four victories on the Web.com Tour, missed the cut in the final regular-season event of 2018.
