Spieth: PGA Championship will be toughest to win
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Jordan Spieth is going to have to wait at least one more year to claim the career Grand Slam, but he feels the final leg will be the most challenging.

"The PGA Championship I think is going to be the toughest for me," the Texan told reporters after Saturday's round. "If we look historically back on my career, I think I will play this tournament worse than the other three majors just in the way that it's set up.

"I feel like my game truly suits the other three majors maybe more than a PGA Championship. But I believe we can play anywhere and can win anywhere. It's just a matter of having everything in sync at the right time."

Spieth came into the week with an opportunity to beat one of Tiger Woods' records by becoming the youngest player to accomplish the career Grand Slam. However, after a third-round 71 at Quail Hollow, he reiterated the youngest to the career Slam was never one of his goals growing up.

"I didn't have it written in a diary from when I was young that I need to win the career Grand Slam as the youngest ever," said the world No. 2. "That wasn't the goal. The goal was to try and win them all. The goal was to try and get on the PGA Tour and then from there see what happens."

The 24-year-old has already played in 20 career major championships, and believes he's going to get a couple good looks at becoming the sixth player to the accomplish the career Slam.

"I have a lot of opportunities."
