Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler has opted not to participate for the U.S. national basketball team at this summer's Olympics in Tokyo, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

The five-time All-Star and teammates Bam Adebayo and Duncan Robinson were among USA Basketball's 57 finalists for the Olympic squad.

The U.S begins training camp on July 6 at UNLV's campus.

Butler was a member of the Americans' gold medal-winning team in Rio in 2016, averaging 5.6 points and 2.5 boards in 14.3 minutes per contest.

Miami began its 2020-21 campaign just 72 days after Game 6 of last year's NBA Finals.

Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic, who also had an extended playoff run the season before, announced Wednesday that he won't be suiting up for Serbia this summer.
