Red Wings' Franzen will not play in Wednesday's Winter Classic

The Detroit Red Wings will be without forward Johan Franzen for the long awaited Winter Classic on New Year's Day due to a concussion. Franzen spoke to Ansar Khan of MLive about his condition Monday.

"Of course (it’s disappointing), but it is what it is. I felt pretty good today, felt good on the ice, but it’s still there. They said hopefully I’ll wake up maybe tomorrow or the day after that and feel good again. That’s what they say usually happens, you just wake up and feel normal. It’s kind of been the same now for a while." Quote via Ansar Khan

Franzen has been out with a concussion since December 16th after a hit from Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Radko Gudas.
