Trocheck bracing for potential trade: 'I would like to win a Stanley Cup'
New York Rangers forward Vincent Trocheck isn't hiding from the possibility that his time with on Broadway could be over by Friday's trade deadline, and he said he'll welcome a move to a team that has a chance to win a title.
"Well, I do want to be on a team that's a good team," Trocheck told NHL.com's Dan Rosen. "If I'm going to get traded and it's to a team that's in the same situation as us, then I don't want to move. That sounds miserable in a new city. And I am 32 years old. I would like to win a Stanley Cup. So if I am going to get traded, I would like to go to a team that's winning or has a chance to win. I have a 12-team no-trade clause, so the teams that are on that are obviously teams I don't want to go to."
Trocheck confirmed that West Coast teams are on his no-trade list, citing a desire to stay closer to family on the East Coast.
The Rangers announced a retool in January and have since traded Artemi Panarin and Carson Soucy. Trocheck could conceivably fetch a big return as an impact center with three more years under contract at a cap hit of $5.625 million. He's notched 38 points in 45 games this season and won 57.4% of his faceoffs. He was part of USA's gold medal team at the Olympics.
The Rangers have two games before Friday's trade deadline. The club hasn't discussed holding Trocheck out of the lineup to avoid injury, head coach Mike Sullivan told Mollie Walker of the New York Post.
