Senators sign Pinto to 4-year, $30M extension

The Ottawa Senators signed forward Shane Pinto to a four-year contract extension worth $7.5 million per season, the team announced Thursday.

Pinto was scheduled for restricted free agency at the end of the season. He's had a strong start to the campaign with eight goals and six assists through 17 games and is well on pace to eclipse the career-high 37 points he notched in 2024-25.

The Senators reportedly offered Pinto an eight-year extension earlier in the season.

"Shane is an important part of our core, and we are pleased to have him with us for the foreseeable future," general manager Steve Staios said. "This is a great opportunity for this group to grow together."

Pinto currently counts for a $3.75-million cap hit. When his new deal kicks in, he'll be Ottawa's fourth-highest paid player Tim Stutzle ($8.35 million), Brady Tkachuk ($8.205 million), and Jake Sanderson ($8 million).

The Senators drafted Pinto 32nd overall in 2019. He's notched 121 points in 227 career contests.
