Ruff: Sabres' collapse to Kraken 'embarrassing'
Buffalo Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff ripped his club's effort Saturday after the team relinquished a 2-0 lead against the Seattle Kraken and surrendered five goals in a 12-minute span.
"I thought the second period, embarrassing the way we played," Ruff said. "We had O-zone time, didn't get to the inside, didn't get pucks to the net, passed the puck around the perimeter, looked for the pretty play. And eventually it caught up to us.
"Unacceptable. Just embarrassing, actually."
The Kraken scored twice in the second period and three times in the opening 5:26 of the third. Coughing up leads is a recurring issue for the Sabres this season.
"We've seen it too many times this year," forward Dylan Cozens said, per Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News. "We give up one and then it's just a disaster. They get another and then another. I don't know why it keeps happening but we've got to figure it out."
The Sabres recently ended a 13-game losing streak and entered Saturday's matchup having won five of their previous eight contests. They remain in last place in the Eastern Conference despite playing better hockey of late.
