Predators trade Tomasino to Penguins for 4th-rounder

The Nashville Predators traded forward Philip Tomasino to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick, the teams announced Monday.

Tomasino is currently signed to a one-year deal worth $825,000. He can become an arbitration-eligible restricted free agent this summer.

The 23-year-old has logged one assist in 11 appearances this season while averaging 11:18 minutes of ice time per contest.

Nashville selected Tomasino with the 24th overall pick at the 2019 NHL Draft. He's totaled 23 goals and 71 points in 159 games split across four seasons and is capable of playing all three forward positions.

The Mississauga, Ontario, native enjoyed his best campaign during his rookie year in 2021-22 when he registered 11 goals and 32 points in 76 appearances.

He'll travel to Pittsburgh in hopes of practicing with the team Tuesday.

Earlier in November, the Penguins traded Lars Eller to the Washington Capitals for a 2027 third-round pick and a 2025 fifth-rounder.

Both Pittsburgh and Nashville are struggling to start the season. The Penguins are in the basement of the Metropolitan Division with a 7-12-4 record, while the Predators occupy seventh place in the Central Division with a 7-11-3 mark.
