Vlasic was the 38th-ranked North American skater and the 10th-ranked defenseman in the draft by NHL Central Scouting.
The towering blue-liner is a solid skater with decent puck skills for a player of his stature. Vlasic is considered more of a project than an NHL-ready talent, but his ceiling as a powerful two-way defender was considered intriguing to teams at the next level.
What they're saying
"He is not flashy and his numbers don't pop, but Vlasic plays a game that fits the modern NHL. He defends at a high level, has excellent feet, and sees the ice remarkably well." - Chris Peters, ESPN
"A big man who can skate will always have a place. More of a projection pick in terms of what he will do offensively down the road." - Sam Cosentino, Sportsnet
