Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott took responsibility for his play after throwing two first-half interceptions in a 19-12 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Sunday's divisional-round game.

"I can't put the team in jeopardy like that," Prescott said, according to The Dallas Morning News' Tim Cowlishaw. "The defense gave us an opportunity to win the game, they did a great job against a good offense. For us to put up the points we did, it's unacceptable, and that starts with me."

The Cowboys limited the 49ers' offense throughout most of the contest, particularly San Francisco's rushing attack. However, Dallas' offense couldn't capitalize on its own possessions. The Cowboys also lost standout running back Tony Pollard, who will reportedly undergo surgery to repair a fractured fibula after leaving the game prior to halftime.

Prescott finished the regular season tied with a league-leading 15 interceptions despite missing five contests due to injury. Including the playoffs, Prescott concluded the season throwing 17 interceptions in 14 games.

The two-time Pro Bowler said he would address his turnover issues this offseason.

"The number it has gotten to is ridiculous. I can promise it will never get this high again," Prescott said.

Prescott completed 23 of 37 passes for 206 yards and a touchdown as the Niners ousted the Cowboys from the postseason for a second consecutive year. Dallas is now 0-3 in the divisional round with Prescott under center.

Despite the Cowboys failing to reach the NFC Championship Game, owner and general manager Jerry Jones said he's confident Prescott will be part of the solution to ending the franchise's 27-season title drought.

"Give me that set-up a year in advance, a month in advance, give me Dak as quarterback, and I feel very strong we will win," Jones said.
