Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields is inactive for Sunday's game against the New York Jets due to a shoulder injury, the team announced.

Despite injuring his oblique in pregame warmups, Trevor Siemian made the start for the Bears. It was previously announced before the game that Nathan Peterman would get the nod due to Siemian's ailment.

Peterman was elevated to the active roster from the practice squad Saturday.

Fields was listed as questionable Friday after reportedly dislocating his non-throwing shoulder in Week 11 versus the Atlanta Falcons.

The 23-year-old, whom the Bears drafted 11th overall in 2021, has shown improvement in his second NFL season despite Chicago's struggles. Fields completed 59.6% of his passes for 1,642 yards and 13 touchdowns against eight interceptions across 11 games this year. He also rushed for 834 yards and seven scores.

The 3-8 Bears have lost four in a row.

New York is dealing with its own issues at quarterback. The Jets benched Zach Wilson and plan to start Mike White on Sunday.
