San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner expressed optimism Monday that he'll be ready to play in Saturday's divisional-round contest against the Green Bay Packers.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan announced the former Pro Bowler suffered a low ankle sprain in Sunday's wild-card game win over the Dallas Cowboys, according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner.

Warner went down in the fourth quarter with what appeared to be a non-contact injury and limped off the field. He was seen grasping at his right leg while team trainers attended to him on the sideline.

The 25-year-old did not return to the game, finishing with five tackles.

Shanahan believes the 2020 All-Pro defender may have aggravated an ailment from the regular season that forced him to miss one game.

"I think it's similar to what he did earlier in the year when he had one," Shanahan said, according to Wagoner. "We're not sure yet. He's got a chance (to play)."

Meanwhile, it remains unclear whether defensive end Nick Bosa will be available for Saturday's matchup after being placed in concussion protocol.
