Aaron Rodgers' absence from the Green Bay Packers' mandatory minicamp has thrust Jordan Love into the spotlight.

But if Rodgers' dispute with the franchise escalates to the point the reigning MVP is either traded or holds out for the season, the second-year quarterback says he'll be "100%" prepared to step into the starting job.

"That's what I'm here for. I was drafted here to play quarterback, so I'll definitely be ready Week 1," Love said Wednesday, according to Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

He added: "My mindset this whole offseason has been to get ready, get myself ready. That's been my mindset since I got here, whether Aaron was here or not here. I've got to get myself ready to play."

Love said he spoke to Rodgers shortly before arriving in Green Bay for workouts, adding that they have "a good relationship."

Rodgers, who also didn't attend the Packers' voluntary organized team activities, broke his silence on his issues with the franchise in late May. The 37-year-old said he disagreed with the "philosophy" of Green Bay's front office but stressed he has no ill will toward Love.

"With my situation, look, it's never been about the draft pick, picking Jordan. I love Jordan. He's a great kid. A lot of fun to work together," Rodgers said at the time.

Rodgers has reportedly told some members of the organization he doesn't want to return to Green Bay next season. The one-time Super Bowl champion apparently wants general manager Brian Gutekunst fired.

Love, meanwhile, enjoyed a strong second day of practice, showing off his arm on several deep throws.

The 22-year-old signal-caller said he was happy with the day's work after a weak start to minicamp.

"I definitely feel it was a good day for me and everybody else as well, just bouncing back from yesterday's practice," said Love.

Love was a surprise pick by the Packers at No. 26 overall in last year's NFL draft after a standout career at Utah State.
