The New Orleans Saints are trying to trade up into the top 10 of the 2021 NFL Draft for a defender or quarterback Mac Jones, ESPN's Dianna Russini reported on Sportscenter, according to Henry McKenna of USA Today.

The Saints have reportedly been one of the more active clubs attempting to trade up prior to the draft.

New Orleans could look to fill its need at cornerback after releasing Janoris Jenkins. South Carolina's Jaycee Horn, Alabama's Patrick Surtain, and Northwestern's Greg Newsome are among the most highly touted cornerback prospects. The team is also reportedly interested in Virginia Tech's Caleb Farley.

The Saints lost Drew Brees to retirement this offseason, leaving Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill as their options at quarterback.

Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said his team is prioritizing quality with its eight selections in this year's draft.

"I don't see a lot of holes in our roster," Loomis said. "I think we have a lot of talent and a lot of positions when you look at each of these position groups. A lot of times, it's hard to envision a rookie coming in and displacing some of our veterans. So I wouldn't say that volume is a priority for us. I think quality is a priority for us."
