The Philadelphia Eagles are exploring their options to trade or release tight end Zach Ertz this offseason, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Ertz could be added to a trade package that includes quarterback Carson Wentz.

The 30-year-old currently has one year left on his current deal and is set to earn $8.25 million in 2021. Contract negotiations did not go smoothly between Ertz and the Eagles' front office leading up to the 2020 season, Fowler adds.

Ertz has been a constant in Philly's passing game since being drafted 35th overall in 2013, racking up 561 receptions, 6,078 receiving yards, and 36 touchdowns over the span of eight seasons.

The Stanford product played in 11 games last season before suffering an ankle injury that caused him to miss time. Ertz was able to return for the Eagles' regular-season finale against the Washington Football Team.
