Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith and his family were robbed at gunpoint at a hotel Tuesday night, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic.

"We are aware of the situation involving Jimmy Smith," the Ravens said Friday in a statement. "We have spoken with Jimmy, and he and his family are safe."

The Smiths were reportedly followed to their hotel from Los Angeles International Airport. Nobody was injured during the incident.

Smith has spent 10 seasons with the Ravens, starting 88 games and appearing in 30 others off the bench. He has 14 career interceptions and was a member of the Ravens' Super Bowl XLVII team.

The 32-year-old inked a one-year extension on New Year's Day to return to Baltimore.
