Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid, the son of head coach Andy Reid, is no longer employed with the team as his contract has expired, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Chiefs announced Monday that Reid had been placed on administrative leave amid an investigation into a three-car crash that left two young children injured, one critically.

Schefter clarified the outside linebackers coach was placed on leave through the duration of his contract, which is now expired.

Reid told Kansas City police he had two to three drinks and also took prescription Adderall, according to a police officer statement ESPN's Adam Teicher obtained.

Police have said they are investigating whether the 35-year-old was impaired before the crash.

The NFL is also reviewing the incident under its personal conduct policy, the league said Tuesday, according to Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith.

Reid did not travel to Tampa, Florida, for Super Bowl LV and did not coach in the Chiefs' loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
