Unnamed Cowboys players trash 'totally unprepared' coaching staff
At least two anonymous players from the Dallas Cowboys blasted their coaches following an embarrassing loss on Monday Night Football that dropped their record to 2-4.
"This coaching staff is totally unprepared," one of the players told NFL Network's Jane Slater. "They don't teach, they don't have any sense of adjusting on the fly."
The Cowboys looked lifeless versus the Cardinals, who blew them out 38-10 in their own stadium. For the season, Dallas leads the NFL with 15 turnovers, and has surrendered 216 points - the most of any team through six games since the AFL-NFL merger.
The Cowboys overhauled most of their staff in the offseason, replacing longtime head coach Jason Garrett with Mike McCarthy, a former Super Bowl champion with the Green Bay Packers. In his two marquee hires, McCarthy brought in Mike Nolan to serve as defensive coordinator and John Fassell as special teams coordinator. He retained Kellen Moore as offensive coordinator.
"They just aren't good at their jobs," a second player said of the staff.
After losing to the Cardinals, McCarthy said he felt the Cowboys' preparation for the game was the best its been all season.
McCarthy was out of the NFL last year, but spent 12-plus seasons as head coach of the Packers from 2006-18, compiling a 125-77-2 record.
