New Orleans Saints receiver Michael Thomas will miss his second straight game after being ruled out for his team's Sunday Night Football matchup with the Green Bay Packers due to a high ankle sprain.

Thomas, the NFL's leading receiver a year ago, suffered the injury in Week 1 and was expected to miss multiple weeks. There was growing optimism he'd be able to suit up in Week 2, but he was ultimately ruled out before the Saints' eventual 34-24 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Running back Alvin Kamara led the team with nine receptions for 95 yards with Thomas sidelined. Wideouts Emmanuel Sanders, Tre'Quan Smith, and Deonte Harris combined for nine catches.

Thomas, 27, led the league with 1,725 yards and an NFL-record 149 catches in 2019. Quarterback Drew Brees and the Saints are 0-2 without him in the lineup.

New Orleans will miss Thomas' presence in a potential shootout with the Packers, who've scored more than 40 points in both of their games this season.
