Michael Thomas might have a chance to play Monday night despite reportedly being expected to face a multi-week absence.

The New Orleans Saints' star receiver "felt fantastic" at Thursday's practice, and there's "a little glimmer of hope" that he could play through his high ankle sprain against the Las Vegas Raiders, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

It was initially said Thomas' injury wasn't severe and he wouldn't be forced to miss any time, but it was later reported the wideout would be sidelined for several weeks and could go on injured reserve.

The 27-year-old - who was named Offensive Player of the Year last season after leading the NFL with 149 catches and 1,725 receiving yards - was quiet in New Orleans' Week 1 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, catching just three passes for 17 yards.

Thomas apparently sustained the injury when teammate Latavius Murray rolled up on his leg late in the Saints' 34-23 victory.

If Thomas can't play, Emmanuel Sanders will likely be Drew Brees' No. 1 receiving option.
