David Njoku requests trade from Browns

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, requested a trade from the club Friday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"It is in David's best interest to find a new team at this time," Rosenhaus said.

The Browns prefer not to deal Njoku, Schefter adds, but the 23-year-old's agent told the team that his client is intent on being traded prior to training camp.

The former first-round pick's desire to leave Cleveland could be related to the organization's offseason decisions at tight end. The Browns made Austin Hooper the NFL's highest-paid tight end in March and then selected Harrison Bryant in the fourth round of the draft.

Njoku injured his wrist and suffered a concussion on the same play in Week 2 last season. He played in two more games during the campaign.

In 2018, he caught 56 passes for 639 yards and four touchdowns across 16 games.
