Former New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan and quarterback Geno Smith aren't on good terms.

The pair traded shots Wednesday, beginning with Ryan saying on ESPN's "First Take" that Bill Belichick wouldn't have been as successful with the New England Patriots if he had Smith as his quarterback instead of Tom Brady.

Smith responded soon after with a series of tweets.

Smith played two seasons under Ryan in New York from 2013 to 2014, during which the Jets went 8-8 and 4-12, respectively. Ryan was fired following the 2014 campaign and Smith went on to lose the Jets' starting quarterback job to Ryan Fitzpatrick.
