Lions fined for violating injury report policy with Stafford

The Detroit Lions, head coach Matt Patricia, and general manager Bob Quinn were fined $75,000, $25,000, and $10,000, respectively, for violating the NFL Injury Report Policy, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

The infractions are a result of the team designating quarterback Matthew Stafford as questionable before a Nov. 10 game against the Chicago Bears. The Lions purportedly knew Stafford would be unable to play by Friday of that week, as tests had revealed fractures in his back.

Stafford hasn't suited up for a game since Nov. 3. The Lions have labeled him week-to-week since then, refusing to place him on season-ending injured reserve.

The 31-year-old signal-caller was enjoying one of his best seasons prior to the injury, throwing for 2,499 yards with 19 touchdowns and five interceptions across eight contests.
