Report: No additional damage for Mahomes, expected back in 4-6 weeks
An MRI on Friday confirmed that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a dislocated kneecap, but it didn't find significant additional damage, sources told Ian Rapoport and James Palmer of NFL Network.
The plan is apparently for him to return this season after a brief absence. His best-case scenario prior to the MRI results was reportedly a three-week recovery period.
Mahomes' timetable for a return could extend to four-to-six weeks, a source told Dave Skretta of The Associated Press.
However, Mahomes will seek additional opinions on his injured knee, added Rapoport and Palmer.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid declined to go into detail about Mahomes on Friday.

Mentioned bringing Kyle Shurmur up from the practice squad as an option, and also noted that Chad Henne isn't able to return from IR until after Week 8.
Mahomes suffered the injury on a quarterback sneak in the second quarter of Thursday night's win over the Denver Broncos, forcing backup Matt Moore to replace him.
The reigning NFL MVP appeared to have his knee popped back into place by trainers before limping off the field.
The Chiefs could aim for Mahomes to return against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 11, though their bye week follows the divisional clash. If Mahomes comes back following the bye, it would be near the end of the four-to-six week timetable.
Mahomes leads the NFL with 2,180 passing yards this season and is tied for first in passing touchdowns with 15.
