Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to start Week 3 of the preseason - typically the dress rehearsal for the regular season - over Josh Rosen.

Dolphins head coach Brian Flores revealed his plans Friday after Miami's second exhibition contest, which Rosen started, according to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Flores insisted the competition is still open as the Dolphins move into the second half of the preseason.

Fitzpatrick has led the battle over Rosen since the beginning of training camp. Miami acquired Rosen, a top-10 draft pick in 2018, from the Arizona Cardinals for a second-round pick in April, but he hasn't been able to overtake Fitzpatrick, the grizzled veteran.

Rosen went 10 of 18 for 102 yards in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while Fitzpatrick went 3 of 9 for 20 yards. Neither pivot committed a turnover. The team's lone touchdown came from No. 3 quarterback Jake Rudock.
