Johnson County District Attorney Stephen Howe announced Wednesday he will not file charges against Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill and his fiancee, Crystal Espinal, after an investigation into possible child abuse, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Howe said that he believes a crime took place but that there isn't evidence to conclusively prove who committed it. He added that he couldn't go into details amid an ongoing non-criminal child protection investigation, but confirmed Hill's 3-year-old son is safe.

The child was reportedly removed from the couple's home.

Howe added that someone "hurt this child," but again emphasized that authorities don't have the information to prove who inflicted the injury, which was reportedly a broken arm.

"We want to hold people accountable who hurt children," he said.

Howe added that hasn't spoken to the Chiefs or the NFL about the investigation.
