The Washington Redskins were interested in acquiring quarterback Joe Flacco from the Baltimore Ravens before the Denver Broncos reportedly swung a deal for the pivot last week, according to Albert Breer of The MMQB.

The Ravens will receive a fourth-round pick from Denver once the trade becomes official at the beginning of the new league year on March 13.

The 34-year-old Flacco carries a cap hit of $26.5 million in 2019 and is under contract through 2021, but has no guaranteed money remaining on his deal.

Washington's believed to be searching for a quarterback as 2018 starter Alex Smith is expected to miss the upcoming campaign after suffering a broken leg in Week 11. He was in the first season of a four-year, $94-million deal he signed last year following his acquisition from the Kansas City Chiefs.

Colt McCoy is the only other Redskins signal-caller currently under contract for the upcoming season and carries a cap hit of $3.5 million.
