Dak won't take Brady-like discount: Nobody's wife makes as much

If the Dallas Cowboys want Dak Prescott to be the face of the franchise for the foreseeable future, owner Jerry Jones should be prepared to open up his checkbook.

The Cowboys quarterback apparently has no interest in signing a team-friendly contact like Tom Brady, whose annual salary of $15 million lags far behind Aaron Rodgers' league-topping mark of $33.5 million.

"Nobody's wife makes as much money as his wife does either," Prescott said, according to USA Today's Jori Epstein. "When Tom Brady isn't the breadwinner in the home, then that's a great problem to have. So in that case, he can do that. He can do his contract however you want to do it."

Brady's wife, Gisele Bundchen, is believed to be worth $400 million and reportedly took home $10 million last year and $17.5 million in 2017.

While Dallas has made it clear it'll pay Prescott fairly after three years as the NFL's lowest-paid long-term starter, the front office would likely appreciate his cooperation.

Impending free-agent defensive end Demarcus Lawrence could become the league's third defender to break the $20-million-per-year mark after Khalil Mack and Aaron Donald. Additionally, running back Ezekiel Elliott and receiver Amari Cooper will need extensions that'll likely put them among the highest-paid players at their respective positions in the next two offseasons.

However, Prescott isn't worried about the Cowboys playing hardball in extension negotiations.

"I think the team knows how to pay what's deserved," Prescott said. "and pay those other people at the same time what's deserved without being frugal."
